What to Expect from a Fire Damage Restoration
If the worst happens and your house does sustain fire damage, it doesn’t necessarily mean the loss of your home and all your possessions. After the flames have been neutralized by the fire service, there are things that you should expect to see in a fire damage cleanup and restoration.
Key Steps:
- Safety Assessment: This is completed alongside insurance companies and the fire marshal to determine the extent of the damage.
- Board-Up and Roof-Tarp: Every access point to the home, such as windows and new holes must be covered to prevent more weather damage.
- Water Removal: Fire damage can often cause water damage, so this must be dealt with before continuing.
- Soot and Smoke Removal: All walls, surfaces, nooks, and crannies must have the smoke and soot removed with the proper technology.
- Cleaning and Sanitizing: Surfaces and salvageable items of the property must be cleaned and sanitized.
- Structural Repairs & Construction: Once the interior is complete, the team should embark on the real rebuild of the structure.
